Why we write

All stories ↗

Hi 👋 We’re Sealzi. We build software that tries not to take more than it needs — a password manager, a voice assistant, a few smaller things — and this is where we write about how that actually goes.

Every company says it respects you. The difference shows up in unglamorous places: what gets collected, what gets kept, what gets measured, and what somebody decided to leave alone. Those calls get made months before anyone sees the product, usually in a meeting nobody ever writes about. So we write about them here.

What you’ll find here

Notes from the workbench. Why we built something one way instead of another. What we got wrong. Every so often, a feature we killed because it only worked if we watched you use it.

Sometimes that’s a close look at one of our products. Sometimes it’s stepping back to ask what any of this is for.

The best privacy feature is the data you never handed over in the first place.

What we actually believe

Why bother

We’re up against companies with more people, more money, and a much easier business model — selling what they know about you pays better than not knowing it 🤷 We’d rather build the other thing, and show our work while we’re doing it.
